Hey again đź‘‹
This week’s devlog is a little different. No big feature drop or mechanical system—just a peek behind the curtain. Season 3 is deep in development, and as we craft this strange new world, we wanted to talk a bit about how we’re building it… and why.
🔡 The Language of the Rift – Eldryth
One of the more experimental things we’re doing this season is creating a custom written language called Eldryth. You’ll start to see it appear in-game—etched on ancient structures and hidden in plain sight.
We aren’t doing it just to be cryptic (okay, maybe a little). The goal is to give the world more texture—more mystery. Eldryth won’t be essential to gameplay, but decoding it might unlock secrets, help with story quests, or reveal forgotten history. Think of it as environmental storytelling… with some extra glyphs.
🌀 Blender, Islands & The Cube™️
We’ve also started experimenting with Blender to create more detailed visuals and prototypes—especially for lore and cinematic stuff. The image below is one of the first things we've made: a mysterious underground chamber, bathed in light, with… yes, that’s the default cube.
It’s humble, it’s a bit funny—but it’s a step toward visualizing the feel of the world we’re crafting.
(We’ll probably make that cube lore now. Sorry.)
🌍 A Different Kind of Survival
When we say this season is different, we mean it. The goal of Season 3 isn’t to rush to Netherite or outgrind your friends—it’s to immerse, explore, survive, and slowly uncover the truth behind the Rift. That philosophy affects everything: our progression system, our worldgen (Biomes O’ Plenty + Rift Islands), and even how we structure lore.
Every change is intentional. Every choice builds toward a world that feels alive, ancient, and a little dangerous.
📺 Devlog Videos Soon™
We’re also working on our first ever devlog video, which will explain a lot of the design behind Season 3—from the new progression pacing to what it means for there to be “soft lore resets.” It’s a new format for us, so any feedback when it drops would mean a ton.
Thanks again for sticking with us. We’re excited for what’s coming—and we can’t wait to share more with you soon.
